EW10J4S limiteurs de vitesse

Messagede chrissi1106 » 02 Juin 2018 09:41

Bonjour!

Merci!

Hello,

my car got a new clutch, clutch cable, crankshaft seal, new intake hose 2 days ago and the oilpan got resealed. Now I have the following problem, that the engine wont rev more than approximately7000 rpm, wether in gear under load or at idle.

If anyone has got an idea, I would be very happy!

Thank you very much

Bonjour,

I've made a little video so that you're able to see, where the problem is. My peugeot workshop has no idea at this moment. :|

Hey,

its a FOX Catback Exhaust, so the catalytic converter is still there, yes. Its the original one.

When the catalytic exhaust is old it begins to be blocked, the exhaust gazes are not ejected properly and the car does not takes its high rpm like yours.

It's a simple idea, it doesn't mean it's this. If someone can give you a catalytic converter or a tube to try

Could be worth a try, but why is the engine limiting the revs like normal? I dont think, the old EW engines are that clever.

The exhaust cannot be ejected as fast as it should, and are blocked at the catalytic converter. It makes the engine force and limits it.

The acceleration is slower than before ? Or it has its full power ?

The engine drives fine and pulls strong as always, just cuts out sooner, thats what I find interesting, its the normal rev limiter..

And when you do not accelerate, on which rpm are you ?

My 206 got it's limiter at 6300rpm instead of 6500, the speedometer is wrong, 200 rpm are missing.
Through a diagnostic with pp2000, it's written the number of rpm

Hi there,
The rev limiter seems to work fine. It is most likely a display issue.
As I got this one recently, I would first check the tachometer while the engine is idled.
If it indicates more than it should, the needle is most likely offset by the missing RPMs.
The EW10J4 idle is set to 700rpm (A/C off, warm engine).
Look for the EW10J4s value.
Remove the top of the dash: set the wheel down and pull gently but very firmly towards you.
Remove the glass in front of the gauges and rotate the needle by hand smoothly while the engine is on till you reach the correct theoretical idle value.

Mine was not just offset. It used to drop some RPMs while revving up because of a faulty micromotor.
I replaced the micromotor (~20£ for the part, the labor was on me) and the problem was gone.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Condo.

Hey,

I just checked the rpm with torque app and they are identical, but torque is getting the data over obd, which should be the same as the tachometer. Is it a common failure, that the tachometer stops working properly? My car is going to be tested tomorrow, after that I could try to drive it fullspeed on the autobahn, to see, what the topspeed (gps) is.

My feeling on the other hand still says, that the engine itself cuts out sooner, but maybe I am wrong! I will update you guys tomorrow, thank you very much!

Hello!

Got my car back from peugeot and they tested it and found out, that the rev limiter is sooner as supposed, but not frequent. Means, whether the car is in neutral, 1., 2. or 3. gear, the rev limiter is always different, from 69xx to 71xx rpm. They said, maybe the clutch is faulty and the knocksensors think, the engine knocks and with that, the ecu retards timing.

any ideas?

Hi Chris,
I've never heard of such a thing before.
You can try to unmount the knock sensor from the block, let it plugged to the harness and let it on a quiet surface while revving up the engine till the limiter cuts out.
It is just a piezzoelectric accelerometer. If it does not detect vibrations, it will not delay ignitions and will let the optimal strategy in use (earliest ignition timing).

I would not put a dime on the clutch.

Hello folks!

Minor Update to the situation. A friend sent me his coilpack, vvt switch and camshaft sensor. On the way to my shop, the car sort of repaired itself. It will now rev out in all gears except neutral (but no idea if thats a problem tbh) but now has a slight revhang and doesnt reacts to the throttle input as before. That means, when shift down and want to match the revs, it doesnt rev as well.

Switching out the vvt switch, camshaft sensor and coilpack had no effect what so ever. Over night I will disconnect the battery and relearn the throttle body tomorrow and change the watertemp sensor.

Still very thankful!

edit: forgot to tell, that the clutch pedal sensor wasn installed correctly, will see how that affected the car.

Chrissi

SOLVED

Indeed the clutch sensor mentioned by foxy was not installed correctly, just came back from testdrive and it drives well, revs out and isnt laggy.

thank you all very very much!
